Night Banquet draws from The Night Revels of Han Xizai, the celebrated Southern Tang dynasty painting from China’s Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period, and reimagines its emotional atmosphere through jewelry. Designed in 2013 and completed in 2015, the work unfolds less as historical illustration than as a psychological and cinematic tableau suspended in time. Tahitian pearls evoke the depth and stillness of night, while emeralds suggest the intimacy of whispered conversations and candlelit interiors. More than ornament alone, the piece exists somewhere between elegance, desire, performance, and solitude.
