The brooch called "Les Lamelles de Bambou", (or “Slats of Bamboo”), is the first of three pieces designed for men by Elsa Jin. Characterized by its dynamic shape, the brooch recalls the unfolding of bamboo strips, the graphic medium for writing in the Far East before the introduction of paper. Diamonds on the titanium scroll symbolize dew and hint at the form of Chinese characters. A treasured white pearl placed in the center of the piece embodies the precious universal values of reason, freedom, and fairness.
