Designed in 2015 by Elsa as a bespoke commission, Green Ghost draws inspiration from the many classical Chinese stories of love between scholars and female spirits. In these literary works, scholars often projected their vision of the ideal woman into the form of a supernatural being, giving rise to romances that were at once beautiful, haunting, and deeply sorrowful.                                                                           

The piece evokes scattered reflections of light across the surface of a pond at night. Resting upon a withered lotus branch is a ghostly green diamond, mysterious and seductive in presence. Through the work, the elegance of the female spirit and the quiet melancholy of the man who longs for her become intertwined.
